Open Unix 8 & Informix

We have a customer that migrated last fall to an OpenUnix 8 Unix Server (during a small time frame when Open Server and UnixWare were going away, and this was replacing it). At the time, we installed 4GL 7.30.UC6, and this customer has reported a bug (#149863). The resolution is to upgrade the 4GL to 7.30.UC7. Unfortunately, because Open Unix 8 is a dead OS, no upgrades are planned by IBM Informix to provide the UC7 version of the tools. I don't see that changing the OS is a viable solution right now, so I wanted to check with everyone in this group to find out if I would be able to install the UnixWare 7.1.1 tools for Informix on this OpenUnix 8 system... One of our other staff members seems to think that installing UnixWare Informix tools may work, however I am leery of doing this because I don't want to have entire system crash and burn. Thoughts... Ideas???
