They use it over modems after checking : that the system can be restored in this way. The tool is not made generally : available so as to avoid users without training trying to recover a broken : online. This could have the unfortunate consequence that they manage to make : it appear recovered when in fact the data is irreparably damaged. Of course : Informix would then get the blame for not having provided a bulletproof : recovery tool. : You can ask but I don't think that you will get a copy. The only people : outside Informix who I suspect have it are the beta sites for Online. FYI - as stated earlier, this tool is an internal Informix utility that should have been deleted after use by the Informix engineers. It is for use by Informix engineers ONLY. Use of this utiity at other sites has caused serious repercussions. It could also be the basis for Informix refusing to support any instance on which it had been run. A word to the wise, if you find this utility on any system, delete it and forget that it was there. No user has authority to run it, including beta sites. : Cheers - Jim : -- : ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- : Jim Gordon DHL Airways Inc. jgordon@us.dhl.com : ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- : My opinions are my own.
