I tested the Informix-for-Linux installation with dbaccess and it worked
fine. I am installing this on a new server so nothing has been installed
on top of anything. I did bring over a couple of simple C program
binaries I created on the old system and they run fine under ibcs. I
suspect my problem is what files to bring over from the old system. I
brought over the isql binary. In the howto it said "You need to have the
iBCS module installed and loaded. This is the only requirement in order
to install and use engines or older versions of tools that don't require
a c development system (isql and 4gl rds)." The old tool I want to use
is isql so it sounds like I don't need addition files?
Later in the howto it talks about starting and stopping the engine
automatically. Perhaps this is where the problem lies. does dbaccess
somehow start up the se engine? if so, does the old isql not know how to
start up the new se engine? I'm guessing at things I obviously don't
grasp well.
Thanks for your help
