If it us based upon users, it should be based upon the number of sqlexec/sqlturbos that are running (except for the Online case of the child sqlturbos generated by PSORT_NPROCS). I don't like paying any more for software than I have to, but if I were developing commercial software, I would HAVE to define a user in this manner. Anything else would leave my software open to such abuses as you jokingly suggested. One alternative that others and I have found to the user-based pricing dilemma is to purchase a separate development license. I keep standard support on my development license (which requires about 1/8 the number of users that my run-time licensce does); this gives me phone support as needed. I keep basic support on my run-time license; this gives me breaks on updates as they become available. By doing this, I was able to purchase a completely separate development computer AND still come out spending less than if I had purchased a development license large enough for my users and developers.
