Detecting when a query plan becomes ineffective

We update statistics daily at 2am. Some of our tables our quite volatile and I suspect that the changes are rendering the query plan obsolete as soon as 12 hours later. Is there a way to detect when the changes to tables/indexes have been so great as to require a fresh "update statistics"?
