I want to say > "picklist(array_of_emp)", "picklist(array_of_vend)". > (vs. emp_picklist(...) and vend_picklist(...)) I have written a generic pick1("select key, desc FROM tab"). It returns the key of the selected line. The key is display on the screen in a char fields. It does not matter if the key is a number, the fetch statement automatically converts it. A later version allowed the use to QBE on the two fields. > - I want multiple picks -- highlight the N items desired, > return an array or list [w/o input array] This can be coded with a display array. ON KEY CONTROL-M toggle the "this-row-has-been-selected" field. >Oh, what's that, the language doesn't allow for this? :-) >And let's not forget dynamically and unlimited sized arrays. Why load it into an array? Use a cursor! Call Informix and ask for DISPLAY CURSOR BY NAME by name :-). >But, seriously, here's one that I haven't researched enough to know >that it can't be done: > >Is there any way to display a report to a window, and scroll through >it (up/down)? I have seen this done. You need 4gl wrappers for the fopen(), fgets(), fseek() and ftell() functions. Load the offset of each line into a array/temp table. fgets() each line and display it to the window. I think the version I saw could scrool left and right as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ David Stockel Internet: dccrjc9@unix.bell-atl.com of ADIA Information Technologies Voice: (215) 466-3216 at Bell Atlantic Fax: (215) 665-1329 1717 Arch Street 4-N-8 Philadelphia, PA 19103 Proudly serving my corporate masters
