Informix DBA Needed for Large UNIX-based Projects - Memphis, TN

The Distributed Computer Support group (DCS) of Federal Express in Memphis, TN is looking for an experienced Informix DBA to provide support for a major highly-visible project. This project is currently supporting 25,000 customers, of which 1500 are on-line at any point in time, with substantial expected growth. The DCS group is responsible for the UNIX operating system support for all of Federal Express's client/server projects, as well as for the installation and customization of a distributed system management product - Tivoli, and a distributed system and application monitoring product - HP Operations Center. The person selected for this position is expected to have expertise in the following areas: Disk partitioning, chunk allocation, mirroring, in depth understanding of tbconfig parameters, Informix Net/Star setup/configuration, Ace report writing, Informix tuning, extent allocation, and ESQL application development/tuning. All of the above must have been done in an Informix environment supporting large numbers of consurrent users (>400). Preference will be given to those candidates who have any of the following additional expertise: UNIX distributed development expertise, system management of large numbers of heterogeneous distributed UNIX systems, Tivoli, HP Operations Center, or UNIX failover products (Openvision, Failover/UX, HACMP).
