adding dbspace in HDR

Hi All,
Just a question:
Our dbspace is filling up and it just around 10% available. It is in HDR
settings (with fail-over).
My procedure is
Server1:
1. create a raw device
2. link the raw device using "ln -sf /dev/rawdev1
/home/informix/dbspace1_chunk2
3. "onspaces -a dbspace -p /home/informix/dbspaces/dbspace1_chunk2 -o 0 -s
1000000" (1GB)
Server2
1. create a raw device
2. link the raw device using "ln -sf /dev/rawdev1
/home/informix/dbspace1_chunk2
3. "onspaces -a dbspace -p /home/informix/dbspaces/dbspace1_chunk2 -o 0 -s
1000000" (1GB)
Question is : Do i still need to shutdown the instance? or not... As i did
from previous version (7.3), (without HDR), I did not shutdown the instance. I
am not sure about the settings with HDR.
Please confirm if it still the same procedure.
Thanks,
Hi,
In an HDR setup you don't need (and you can't do) the onspaces on the
secondary.
You just have to make the device and link on the secondary server. Then you
just need to run onspaces on the primary instance.
The instruction will be replicated to the secondary (make sure the device is
available and with the correct permissions informix:informix 660).
You don't need to stop the instance (neither of them).
Regards.
