4Js BDL vs Genero vs Querix vs EGL?
Posted in 2007
We've got a 4Js BDL app that just doesn't seem to want to convert to 64-bit and, since BDL is out-dated, we're looking to upgrade. Does anybody have any thoughts on moving from BDL to Genero, Querix, or EGL? I think my question is more geared towards Genero vs. Querix for BDL users. Some of the things we like about BDL (among others) are: 1) It's in 4GL. Our developers are very fluent in 4GL. 2) Code exists and runs on the Unix server (no need to update a lot of different clients for code changes). 3) Ability to develop our code on the Unix side. Some of the things we don't like about BDL (among others) are: 1) It's got kind of a Windows 3.1 look about it. 2) Inability for every input on the screen to work together (INPUT statement and INPUT ARRAY working together). 3) Inability to pre-populate a combo box. ______________________________________________________________________ Joel Schumacher JCPenney Co. - UNIX Network Systems jschumac@jcpenney.com 6501 Legacy Drive M/S 6108 (972) 431-4044 Plano, TX 75024
