Wingz DataLink question
Posted in 1992
Hello Informix-users!
I am working on a system which uses Wingz DataLink to integrate Wingz on the
Mac with Informix Online on a Sun Sparcstation. Our programming team has
created a spreadsheet-like interface to the database using the documented
DataLink functions.
In prorotyping a new function, I wrote the following SQL statement:
select category, sum(fy92) from data_table group by category
to obtain a roll-up of the data in the fy92 column for each category. This
returns 13 rows of data (as expected) if I enter the command in the DataLink
"Direct Entry" window. Fine. I want to program a button script to execute
the same command (so my end-user doesn't have to worry about SQL). I have
tried the following script:
define err, status, rows
select range "categories" {select region for output}
DB:force_flow = 1
status = DB:DBState()
if status <> DB:A_NOTCONN
call DB:ExecuteCommand("select category, sum(fy92) from data_table
group by category")
status = DB:DBState()
rows = DB:DBDescribeRowset()
if status = DB:A_READY
if rows > 0
call DB:WingzOutput()
else
message "No rows selected for this query"
end if
end if
end if
Running this script, I only get the first 4 of 13 rows of data. I checked the
value of the "rows" variable before the call to WingzOutput and it says that
there are only 4 rows. My suspition is that the database is still processing
the query when it returns the first 4 rows, and I have to add more code to
fetch the additional rows (not sure how to do this). Any thoughts or
suggestions on the problem will be appreciated!
