I don't think I saw the original mail message. However, if you are "losing trnascations" under SE a possible cause is that SQL errors are occurring and not being detected. If you run with WHENEVER ERROR CONTINUE you must check STATUS after every SQL statement, including BEGIN WORK, COMMIT WORK, and ROLLBACK WORK. If there is something wrong with the transaction log these commands will fail, and if the faiilures are not detected you could indeed lose transactions. > In article <3lea9a$elr@lxotta.learnix.ca> pppuser@learnix.ca writes: > > <snip> > > Most of our applications are written in Informix 4GL with Informix-SE. > > Lately we have been having problems with transactions simply > disappearing> with no notification or errors, among other things. > <snip> > > You may be after more of an expert than myself, and it's also hard to > comment without seeing the code & machine (e.g. perusing the various > UNIX bits which can give a clue), but Things I Have Known Give Weird > Results include the following: > > Running out of UNIX locks ('sar -v' in SVR4 will give a clue) > Running out of room in $DBTEMP or the transaction log file system. > > Either of these lead to very nsty things happening.
