thanks to all of you. the procedure is really simple, ( Igot confused with an instruction I foun in the Informix installation guide that said rpm .. relocate - do not do that) 1.- Downloaded the file 2.- Login as root. 3.- cpio -icmv < IDS_file It extracted 3 rpm files ( gls, messages and IIF ) and 3 installation scripts 4.- set the INFORMIXDIR variable to /opt/informix 5.- run the install_server script 6.- run the RUN_AS_ROOT script as it says.
