installing stand-alone new era

I want to install an NE .exe to run for test purposes on a cohort's laptop but do NOT want to install the full blown C compiler, app builder, etc. What is required to RUN an NE .exe (c compiled) file. I'm sure this is somewhere in the 952 documentation volumes, but thought this might be easier! Thanks...MJ
