help to bring chunks off-line for recovery

I am testing new version of OMNIBACK using onbar for Backup and Restore Informix data spaces. I want to test to restore for a particular dbspace, for that I need to off-line a dbspace or chunk for recovery. What is the best/simple way to bring a chunk/dbspace off-line ? Any undocumented commands can use to bring a chunk off-line ? onmode -o is a undocumented command but I am not sure which versions aresupport this command. Any idea or help is most appreciated. thanks Ravi Yarlagadda

Hi, what you can do : - bring down the server, - check ONDBSPACEDOWN parameter in your $ONCONFIG file, probably you want to set it to 0 (zero). - (physically) remove the "desired" chunk, - re-start the server. Upon restarting the server it will check for the chunks and notice chunk(s) gone. ONDBSPACEDOWN=0 will let it continue even though there are down chunks (though only if it's a chunk of non-critical dbspace). Perhaps you need to do "onmode -O" (capital "O" as far as I remember), to get the dbspace marked down. Now you should be able to (warm) restore.
