Re: IDS to DB2 conversion

I'm sure IBM has many extremely talented people who want to do the best for both products and customers. It sounds as though your best efforts are getting caught up in a debate about a wider strategy. Of course it didn't help that Informix had a tools strategy which was over ten years out of date before IBM even looked at them. But I really can't begin to describe the depth of anticlimax when Janet Perna's eagerly anticipated strategy statement basically said that "no Informix users will be forced to migrate to DB2" and that was about all. You hunted for the rest of the strategy and there simply wasn't any. One of the finest relational database servers condemned to be a legacy product at a stroke. Even without all the customer satisfaction blunders that followed, all the best endeavours by the doubtless talented and motivated people like yourself were going to go in trying to heal this wound, or even just to stop it bleeding.
