HP-UX 11.itanium Architecture Installation

Hello, Iam facing a problem installing the compilers of 4gl r4gl, i4gl, isql. When I first tried an install , it gave an error because Informix ODS was online. Iam using HP-UX 11.x Itanium Architecture.This particular HP-UX box is pretty new and the architecture is also "itanium" for which IBM has seperate installabale files for Informix 9.4. So to rectify this, I brought all instances offline, removed all the directoriries and sub-directories under /opt/informix. Iam aware that the order of installtion has to be :- 4gl 4glgp isql engine sdk And the installation scripts are as follows :- install4gl install4gp installsql The install4gl ran successfully BUT after running install4gp , I got the error :- Installing directory. Installing directory bin etc/install[237]: etc/brand: cannot execute Installation of IBM INFORMIX-4GL Rapid Development System failed. I think this us due to some permissions problem on the HP-UX 11.i as this is a very new version. My questions :- 1] Whats the soln to the above error ? 2] Why does it occur ? 3] Is it due to some env not set properly ? Santosh, My experience with Informix and Hp-UX itanium, that you need to install the Informix product for the Itanium platform. The PARISC HP-UX Informix products will not work even though that HP-UX itanium support and emulate PARISC application to run. In your case I think you are using PARISC version of Informix 4gl. I can say so because the errors you are getting indicating that the problem with libraries that have extension of .sl. For the Itanium HP-UX all shared libraries have extension of .so . Guys- A few months ago I had a terrible time trying to get the 7.32.FC3 versions of isql, 4gl, 4gl runtime and 4gl Debugger for HP-UX 11i (PA-RISC version). All of the install files uploaded on 7/13/05 to Passport Advantage were mislabeled, a couple were unusable (correct version, I could read the machine notes by using the "strings" command, but they couldn't be un-tarred) and one was missing entirely. Some of these problems appear to have been resolved, but at least the missing 4gl runtime remains an issue. I have decided to wait until I hear that someone else has successfully downloaded and installed them. I believe you will find that the reason brand is not executable is because it (even if the file you downloaded is labeled for HP-UX Itanium) is not an HP compatible binary. If I remember correctly, at the time I tried to find my install files, the file labeled 4GL-RDS for HP-UX Itanium actually contained the install files for NCR Unix.
