I know my reply is pretty late after your posting, but if you are still wondering, what is in your aimsdbs1 dbspace? perhaps it contains logical logs?... perhaps your engine is set to dynamically add logs?... perhaps dynamically adding logs triggers this required backup? if you don't know what's in aimsdbs1 by your DBA work, perhaps Informix is doing something automatically per your configuration setup that then causes enough change to require a backup.
