Privileges

Using Informix 7.23.uc1, can't change the 'alter' privileges on tables. Can anyone give me a clue on this ?? I keep getting error 302. Usually indicates that you don't have sufficient rights. I'm Informix, and I've also tried to change them, logged in as the owner. John
