Bogus SQL -206 Errors in 7.11
Posted in 1996
Has anyone else had Online 7.11 UC1 do this to them? We are baffled and Informix Support has apparently not seen this yet: Online 5.03 running a number of stored procedures as clients against a 7.11 UC1 server. After running fine for a month, the stored procedures start getting -206 errors such as in the following statement: select count(*) , symptom_count into v_rework_sum_rows, v_old_symptom_cnt from rework_summary where . . . . From our error log: SQLCODE = -206 ISAM Code = 0 Error String = production@hpvcp054:informix.rework_summary -206 The specified table table-name is not in the database. The synonym "rework_summary" is "production@hpvcp054:informix.rework_summary" and was not dropped/recreated. Cutting and pasting the name of the table into a Dbaccess Table / Info screen displays the table just fine. PUBLIC has select privileges on the table. Copying the code to a second client computer running 5.03 nets the same errors. Recompiling the procedures, updating statistics, and using the table names explicitly instead of synonyms all have no effect. The errors occur in about half of our dozen or so different stored procedures which are all doing similar selects but against different tables. The errors occur 90% - 99% of the time now (but NOT 100% of the time! Go figure). Some of these tables are owned by user informix and some are not. All tables allow select to PUBLIC. These errors started on Feb 3. There were no errors logged by Online to the online.log on either client or server on that day. Client: 5.03 UC1, HPUX 9.03, HP9000/735.
