Triggers and rowid

Is anyone out there aware of a method of obtaining the rowid of the current row within an update trigger. I have tried using both the old and new correlation names followed by rowid, which returns a syntax error, also just rowid on its own is unsuccessful. Due to a rather dubious database design the ONLY unique element of my table is rowid. Any help much appreciated.
