Re: Poor support

Yes, we can all find things in the manual that Tech Support are unaware of. I've even managed to solve problems that have baffled the highest levels of support available. But the same things happen with all products. INFORMIX are no exception. I used to be in tech support for INFORMIX. It's not an easy job. Very often the users are more familiar with the product than the tech support personnel, after all the users use a limited set of facilities whereas tech support people are expected to be all-knowing. Also, users often use terminology which is outside of the tech support experience and that leads to confusion. Just look at some of the confusions which happen in c.d.i. I don't want to stop you folks criticising tech support, after all, I've done it myself, but try to be tolerant. Try to help them. My biggest objection to INFORMIX Tech support is that they want me to pay for a tech support contract, when I still know more than their tech support personnel about the product! And I was paroled 5 years ago! > Sean R.
