Ok, that sort of worked for odbc, should that not match the nettype on the unix box? I tried to use vb 6.0 's ado control to access it, it didn't complaint. However, if I put a text box on the form, bind it to the data control, go to the data field of the text box, it crahses vb6.0 every time, any insights? thanks for your help. yan Octav Chiriac wrote: > Set the protocol to 'onsoctcp'.
