large number of sessions with Y flag

I see a large number of sessions with the Y flag (waiting for condition) when I do onstat. people also complain about performance. Are these things related? What might cause it? Thanks, jeremy

Run an onstat -g wai if you have WAITSTATS enabled, to see what's being waited for and determine where the contention lies. What's your BR (Bufwaits Ratio) look like? Art Art S. Actually it looks very good. It shows all threads waiting for users to enter requests, nothing really blocked on any server resource. no contention. Art Art S.
