I have installed the CLI and the ODBC packages under slackware kernel 2.2.6 When I try to compile the demos in the cli c++ directory I get errors about the system libraries not found .. crypt etc. The error message from ld is -lcrypt: No such file or directory Is the make file supplied with the linux tar okay. Or do I need other libraries to be able to write cli code? Thanks Mike Warne Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.

Save yourself some grief, use SuSE. You'll have the same problem with Caldera as well. Great release, but they evidently went for exportable distributions that don't violate the export-ability of crypt. I guess Slackware went the same way as well. By the way simply adding this library won't help, unless you are an expert at changing the system libraries. Adding one wrong file will make your system unbootable, and unusable. Been there done that. :-) Tim Walter Harms wrote: > > mike_warne@my-deja.com writes: > > >I have installed the CLI and the ODBC packages under slackware kernel > >2.2.6 > > >When I try to compile the demos in the cli c++ directory I get errors > >about the system libraries not found .. crypt etc. > > >The error message from ld is -lcrypt: No such file or directory > > >Is the make file supplied with the linux tar okay.
