RE: Starting Data Replication Question

Actually, spu12 (secondary) should be the one in recovery mode; it should be
left in that state after you did the restore. I don't know what the
onarchive command is (no manual here, and I've never used the beast), but
make sure that you do only a "physical" restore, not a regular logical
restore. With ontape, you'd want to do "ontape -p", instead of "ontape -r".
Maybe you could give us the output from the message log from spu12
immediately after you do the restore?? Also, make sure that your DR...
parameters in your onconfig file are set identical on both servers.

Subject: Starting Data Replication Question
Hello,
I have been assigned to set two computers as servers for replication,
spu11 and spu12, using Informix!
I have followed all the steps for a physical backup on spu11 (primary)
and have restored the database on spu12 (secondary). I followed the
steps on the "Universal Server Administrator's Guide", chapter 30,
"Using Data Replication", section "Starting Data Replication for the
First Time." These steps included using onarchive and ondatartr.
Everything seems all right as far as the backup is concerned.
Following the steps, I set spu11 to primary, and that works.
When I try to set spu12 as secondary I get an error.
The command is, onmode -d secondary spu11.
The feedback is DR: Unable to change server type.
The server spu11 is on the right mode, recovery, according to the
manual.
Any suggestions?
-Maria
