CHAR vs NCHAR

Hi all, I would like to know if anyone has encountered performance problems using NCHAR's. I have tested the use of NCHARs in "CREATE INDEX" and it seem be be VERY slow, Creating index on CHAR field takes about 2 minutes, create index on the same data but using NCHAR takes about 17 minutes. I know there would be a small'ish overhead, sorting a native language, but not this much. I'm using ODS 7.24.UC4 on a SUN E3000 (5.4). Anyone care to comment ?? Lars Johansson lajo@q8.dk
