hey guys: I am using cli on the win98 with Access to link to a database (informix) 7.22 on a solaris box. everything works fine, i open it up the record is there, but i can't update it. saying recordset not updateble. could someone give me a list of things i need to check to ensure the recordset is updateble? I already tried grant update privilege to the name of the user i am logging in as, but that didn't help. thanks a lot. yan
This happens when the table doesn't contain a primary key or Access doesn't detect this. Normally it asks when you connect to such a table, what field the primary key is. If you don't answer, the table or query will not be updatable. Since Informix is quite new on Windows their former clients were quite bad (and messed you whole system on setup). In late 98 and especially 99 the clients and their setups became much better, so it might also be useful to install the latest Client SDK (2.30) including the new ODBC drivers and connect module (Intersolv 3.11 seems to be better than Informix 3.30 at this time).
