---------- From: Volker Fraenkle[SMTP:VFraenkle@earthling.net] Sent: Thursday, January 29, 1998 12:14 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Q: New ODS Release What is the next ODS Release? 7.24 or 7.30 JL: Version 7.24 was released during 1997, so the next release should be 7.30. And what will be changed in it? JL: Version 7.24 was primarily a bug-fix release replacing 7.23. JL: Version 7.30 is a much more major release. It probably would have been 8.0 except that JL: version number was used for XPS, so 7.30 is being used instead. Version 7.20 was quite JL: a big change relative to 7.1x too. JL: I'm not sure of all the details, but amongst other scheduled features are hints to the JL: optimizer and built-in UPPER() and LOWER() functions. This will probably also be a JL: major step towards the integrated Informix Dynamic Server with the Universal Data Option JL: and Extended Parallel Option (currently IUS and XPS) as add-on options.
