Art, very useful but...
I have just few user accounts (informix, one DBA user, etc.) explicitly
created on the machine where Informix runs.
All other users are users created on Active Directory and Informix (or
better said, Solaris) authenticates those users using NIS connection to
Active Directory.
So where their sqlexplain.out files go? Nowhere, because they don't have
their home directories on server.
I tried to set explain on explicitly through SQL Editor but of course error
arises explaining it's impossible to create sqexplain.file.
Can you tell me how can I trace query plans of such users, please?
Thanks.

In the "UNIX properties" of an Active Directory user, you will have to define a home directory that is accessible from your Informix server. This home directory does not have to be accessible from Windows! We have a very similar scenario and have all NIS user's home directories on an NFS server which is mounted by all NIS client machines. Thank you Richard, this helped, under UNIX attributes I set /tmp for that users home directory beacuse I just needed it temporarily and it worked OK.
