You should have no problem with the load. Some times it is faster to drop indices, load data, and then re-create the indices if the volumn of loaded data is very large. It sounds like your logical logs are not large enough to handle the load as a single transaction. Check that LBU_PRESERVE parameter is set to 1 (i.e. preserve last logical log), and that there is enough space in the logical logs to handle a large transaction. Also check the long transaction high water mark (usually set to 50%). Informix Online will not allow a long (large) transaction to consume more than a certain percentage of logical log space. Increase the no of logical logs, their size, and/or the long transaction high watermark in the ONCONFIG file. Also ensure that you Physical log size and check point interval makes sense.
