On-Bar Interanl Subsystem Failure

We have Informix 7.30 uc 3 running on an RS/6000 with AIX 4.3.1. We are
using onbar to backup to an ADSM storage manager. Periodically, when
attempting to do a full backup we get the following message:
1999-05-20 07:39:47 7976 13138 /informix/bin/onbar_d -b -L 0 -w
1999-05-20 07:39:53 7976 13138 Begin level 0 backup rootdbs.
1999-05-20 07:41:09 7976 13138 XBSA Error (BSAInit): An unspecified XBSA
error has occurred: 96
If we try the backup again right after this it works fine. It may be
several weeks before we see this message again. So far I haven't seen a
pattern for when this error occurs. Has anyone else had this problem?
Where should I be looking for a cause. Thanks for your help.

I've usually seen error 96 when the problem is on the ADSM side. Did your
dsierror.log file have any messages? That is where ADSM usually writes
errors related to API.
I don't see a 'successfully connected to storage manager' message in the
clip you gave. I would look to see if you've exceeded maximum connections
on the ADSM side. I don't think it is a password problem or you would have
it recurring, I think.
Any messages on the ADSM activity log at the same time??
Hope this helps.
