long time to wait until "dbaccess - Database - Select" answers

Hello,
dbaccess - Database - Select
takes about 30 ... 45 seconds to list all 8 databases.
After selecting a database it takes the same time to
show the info or the missing connect permission.
The same behaviour if the DB-Client calls an external
program that connects to the DB (for example crystal report).
Any ideas what could be the reason?
(BTW, we use IDS 10.00.FC4)
Thanks,
Werner

For slow initial connectivity issues check your DNS and/or make sure the
servers can resolve locally

Failure is not as frightening as regret.
If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.
Start by checking DNS settings... What OS? I have seen a problem
like this with AIX.

Yes, the OS is AIX:
aix12:/> oslevel -s
5300-03-00
aix12:/> oslevel -r
5300-03
aix12:/>
nslookup can resolve all hosts defined in ~informix/etc/sqlhosts
(except one - but correction of the hostname in sqlhosts and
deleting the line from sqlhosts did not solve the problem)
