Re: Load Table in ESQL/C

In article <C5yAI3.5Ex@promdist.pds.com> I wrote: > >It's not *that* tough to write in C! OK, it *would* take some time >to write a real program that parses the "load from" syntax, and looks >up the table and figures out the column types and all that, > <...> Moments after that, I saw the monthly posting from snide.com... It seems like it would be pretty easy to write a full blown ESQL/C load/unload program by combining Dave's "dbloader & dbunloader" programs with my unload-parsing routines (or maybe even something better written ;-) ) and a trivial unload-generating function... Would anyone care to? If so, please let me know... I have isql, but it would be nice to have load/unload functions that aren't buggy! If anyone feels so inclined, I have a badly written version of the unload part that I'd be happy to e-mail as a starting point (although my unload program does some unsavory things, like converting newlines in fields to spaces so I can later load the file with isql if I need to...) Chances of my writing an ESQL load/unload program in the next week or two are pretty low... Especially since in a little over a month I'm moving to a company that doesn't use Informix! (They use something called "Oracle", which I always thought was an omniscient being at a University in Indiana). -- Bill Foote bill@pds.com PDS Corp, Los Angeles, CA USA uunet!promdist!bill
