Informix won't buy Borland

Informix won't buy Borland because: 1. Borland don't have a significant number of customers of the type that Informix will wish to attract. i.e. The Borland customer profile is NOT corporate developers using Borland products for mainstream business apps connected to business-critical database servers. 2. Borland is primarily a development tools company. Informix have already produced their own set of tools (NewEra, ViewPoint...) which will suit their target market much better than Borlands tools. They don't need any technology from Borland. Aside: having examined (amongst others) both Delphi from Borland and NewEra from Informix, I am impressed with them both but prefer NewEra for those business apps I write every day!. 3. Borland has to compete head-on with Bill and the evil empire; Informix doesn't really need this kind of nightmare. 4. Infobor would be a really bad name for a company. 5. Informix people are not stupid: they know points 1 to 4 without me having to tell them.
