root dbspace chunk offline how recover ?

Hi, Informix 7.23 installed. I have the root dbspace (containing the logical + physical logs) on one disk which is now banjaxed. The other dbspaces are on a separate, good disk. I know the steps for bringing back a non-root dbspace chunk when it goes offline, but how do I bring back the root dbspace ? Any help much appreciated, Peter Groarke
