Subject: Is table or database level backup possible?
>Hi. We are running 7.20 on HP-UX 10.01. I am new to Informix and have =
a
question about backup/restore. It appears that I can use ontape to =
backup
the instance, but I must restore the whole instance to get a single
database or table back. I was thinking about doing an ontape and also
dbexporting all of the databases and letting them get backed up with the
regular file system backups. =20

single tables or databases? Is there 3rd party software that will help
with this?
RTFM: While both products are used for backing up the whole instance, =
both are capable of providing dbspace level restores. If single table =
restoration becomes a necessity, then laying out your tables in separate =
dbspaces would be the solution.
