Cannot attach to shared memory after DB restore?
Posted in 1996
I hope someone out there knows the answer to this:
the problem is i have a UnixWare 2.11 machine (90 Mhz, don't know
memory...
but could check if u think it is important)
on this UnixWare, we have loaded some informix, and applied and upgrade
to
informix, so the informix we are running is:
4gl Interactive Debugger version 4.14.UC1
4gl version 4.14.UC1
4gl Rapid development system version 4.14.UC1
sql version 4.14.UC1
Online engine version 5.03.UC1
(the order i listed them is almost the order in which they were
applied...
all application tools are installed before the engine)
the problem is the engine comes up and tbmonitor shows 3 databases.
isql and dbaccess can not see the engine,
typing dbaccess and hitting return results in :
529: Cannot attach to shared memory.
22: Invalid argument
informix guys had me start a second instance of the engine in case
the first engine is screwy (cuz i did a restore of my old database)
but even the second engine instance had the same problem.
informix thought it was a kernel problem. SCO UnixWare people say NOT.
informix thinks SCO did a kernel release and forgot to tell informix
that
there IS something different so informix would have to port to the new
one and make a patch of some kind.....
thanks,
