SET EXPLAIN and stored procedures

Trying to use SET EXPLAIN inside a stored procedure and the result is an sqexplain.out file that contains one line feed for each SP execution. That's it. A post from April also mentioned this, but Informix tech support claims ignorance, saying there are no known bugs relating to this. Has anyone gotten SET EXPLAIN to successfully work inside a stored procedure? Environment is ODS 7.23UC2 on HP-UX 7.23UC2. Update statistics is being run and the set explain works fine if Ipull the code out of the SP. TIA.
