You could use I4GL instead, but I don't recommend it. No, basically, you
need ESQL/C, as it says fairly clearly in the DBD::Informix documenation.

Maybe -- is there an ESQL/C installed on your machine? If so, you're OK;
if not, you probably aren't.

It would. If you had ESQL/C, you could also investigate SQLCMD from the IIUG
archives as an alternative to DB-Access.
