JDBC & row locks

Help! I've just discovered that no SQLException is thrown if the the record you've selected is locked by an uncommitted transaction. ResultSet.next() returns false and neither the ResultSet object nor the Statement object generates an SQLWarning!!!! How am I supposed to differentiate between a locked record and a 'not found' condition. Am I missing something or does the JDBC API have a major flaw here. If it matters, my database server is Informix On-line 7.23 and I'm connecting via Borland's DataGateway for Java. Jeff Larsen larsen@qec.com
