killing user's session

Hello All,
I am not being able to kill one of the user's session using onmode -z command,
neither the onmode command showing any message.
This session does not exist on UNIX. I can see the session using onstat -g ses
command as well.
9620 careyj ttypf 29514 speedway 1 1359872 97352
Is there any other way to kill this session other than restarting the informix?
need to kill 9620.
onstat -g sql
9725 SELECT sabledb DR Wait 20 0 0 6.01
9622 - - - Not Wait 0 0 6.01
9620 - - - Wait 20 -874 0 6.01
9619 SELECT sabledb DR Wait 10 0 0 6.01
9249 SELECT sabledb DR Wait 20 0 0 6.01
Informix 7.13, running on HP-UX 10.01
Can anyone advice?
No... Unfortunately sometimes (or with some queries, specially on sysmaster)
it's not possible to kill a session.
This has been improved. These days it's a rare event, but it still happens
sometimes...
By the way, and I suppose You don't need me to tell you this, 7.13 is really
old... I believe it was already old when I joined Informix in 1998 :)
Regards.

Killing the pid on the host which opened the session is normally an
alternative to onmode -z. From your onstat -g ses info, your looking for pid
29514 on hostname speedway. If you didn't find pid 29514 on speedway, then
everything remaining is internal to the db.
Before you decide to restart your instance, verify if the session is rolling
back (Flag position 3 = 'R' of onstat -u or onstat -g ses). DO NOT restart
your instance if the session is rolling back. The recovery phase will do the
rollback anyway while all users are locked out.
If there is no pid to kill at the OS layer and the session is not rolling
back, then restarting the instance would be suggested.
