Access 2000 & Serial Keys

I have an Access 2000 database I upgraded from an Access 97 version. When I try to update a row that contains a serial key, I receive an error stating I can't update a serial key. This is despite the facts that I have not altered the serial key, and in fact the field containing the serial key is not modifiable. This worked fine in the Access 97 version. I'm using the Intersolv v3.11 ODBC driver. Any suggestions? Thanks, M. Livenspargar
