I'd say that only affinity, the capability of "locking" a process
on a certain CPU, is not available.
So you can happily use many CPU VPS:
MULTIPROCESSOR 1 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 3 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vpsto one
NOAGE 0 # Process aging
AFF_SPROC 0 # Affinity start processor
AFF_NPROCS 0 # Affinity number of processors
NUMAIOVPS 2 # Number of IO vps
As a side note, beware that it's a good idea to leave
multiprocessor support always enabled on a multiprocessor
system. So the right way of using just one CPU VP on your
system would be:
MULTIPROCESSOR 1 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 1 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vpsto one
NOAGE 0 # Process aging
AFF_SPROC 0 # Affinity start processor
AFF_NPROCS 0 # Affinity number of processors
NUMAIOVPS 2 # Number of IO vps
In fact, your system has many processors anyway.
Multiprocessor locking is always a good idea in this case.
