What O/S
What version of IDS
Are you using raw or cooked disk
How many users?
What is your definition of slow?
How do you know it is slow, what is the comparison?
How much data?
volatility of data?
?
?
onstat -p
onstat -m
A buffer size of 8192 (on 2K pages gives only 16 Mb of memory)
when you have 2Gb in the machine seems very small, especially as you
have locks set to 550,000 (are you really expecting that many rows/
index entries to be locked at one time!!).
Try buffers at 50,000 (100 Mb) and see what happens.

Solaris 9
No idea? 7.31.UC5 ??
Cooked
This is a test system, so none on this!
It takes longer to restore than on my other test system - upto 3 times slower
Not a lot, talking a couple of Gb
Not volatile on this system
Can't upgrade as it's got an application running over it which isn't supported
with later releases. It's also had update statistics ran!

Among other problems, 7.31.UC5 still has the buffer aging bug. If you run
onstat -P and the summary at the bottom shows more than say 30% of thebuffers are BTREE pages you are suffering from this bug and must upgrade to
7.31UC6 or later. As Keith pointed out we're up to at least 7.31UD7 or UD8
Oh, and BTW this bug may have returned in UD7, we just opened a case about
it this week.
