I am not a 4gl developer, i am however a dba trying to recreate our production 4gl application running on solaris 2.6 to the linux environment for training purposes. I am able to get he 4gl to compile and run but there is one problem, wen the escape key is pressed to go to the next for or function it doe not alway work. The shell seems to be interperating the initial preesing of the key as a command function of the shell. I suspected termcap and have tried multible different termcap setting as well as the termcap file igot from the informix website in the linus section but the problem persists. I know this seems minor but it is imperitive that the training environment exactly mimic the production environment, has any one else seen this problem? any suggestions?

Check that you're using the latest available version of I4GL on Linux. The first release had the problems you described, but they should have been fixed in the next release. I don't have the detailed version numbers at hand or I'd quote them -- sorry! -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
