There is some sort of a bug with sqlrm & shared memory connections which causes sqlrm to eat up lots of CPU time (about 2-3% per sqlrm -- with 40+ users this pretty much hoses the system). If you use sqlrm with a local loop back sockets connection, the problem goes away. (You're still using sqlrm, but with an INFORMIXSERVER setting which refers to a socket connection rather than a shared memory connection.) If Informix ever fixes this bug so sqlrm can effectively use a shared memory connection, the effects of sqlrm should be barely noticable. Another draw back to sqlrm: It dosn't recognize the OPTCOMPIND variable or the PDQPRIORITY variable. (These parameters can normally be over-riden with enviornment varaibles, but not with sqlrm!) The only way around sqlrm is to compile with the newer tools! Irwin
