Raw Partition V/S File for Database -- Opinions Please.

Hi Netters, I would like to invite some opinions from some Database and RS6000 Gurus out in netland. Is it advantageous to have a raw partition for a database or should a file system be used as a database chunk? I would like to hear pros and cons on this matter. Any advantages of one method above the other? Any and all responses appreciated.
