Is NewEra (3.0?) a viable alternative?

We are literally a couple of days from bringing either [Informix and New Era] -or- [Oracle and Developer2000] into our company. We have a new RS/6000 and more to follow (i.e., the vendor we choose will determine our direction for the foreseeable future). If *anyone* out there using NewEra (especially a beta of 3.0) has a strong opinion for or against, please reply.
