Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
PN, a long-time Informix SE 7.x user, asked for a paid expert opinion on SE's history and future. Obnoxio The Clown replied dismissively. Jonathan Leffler said there were no plans to change SE significantly beyond ports to new OS versions; it is stable, so keep using it if it meets requirements, otherwise move to IDS 11.50. Others joked about billing.

I am looking for someone with knowledge about Informix products,
especially Standard Engine 7.x.
We've been using this Informix engine for many years, and nothing has
been added to it for 5 or 6 years already.
The time you spend on the report is billable.
Please reply to my gmail account ndphung at gmail.com
Thanks
PN

There are no plans to change SE significantly. As it becomes necessary to
do ports to new operating system versions, that is likely to happen.
Otherwise, it is an archetypically stable product that just works. If it
meets your requirements, continue using it. If not, upgrade to IDS 11.50.
