Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Fernando asked whether a foreign key constraint can reference a synonym pointing to a table in another database. Fernando Nunes answered no, R Fo said constraints and triggers are only allowed on tables, and Art Kagel confirmed and suggested keeping a local copy synchronised by triggers or ER, then constraining that. He also pointed to the IIUG features survey.

Hi..
It´s possible to create a constraint from a synonym? I have a synonym that
"points" to a table from other db. Can I create a foreign key constraint of
that table/synonym?
Thanks.

No, you cannot. You should take the IIUG Features survey that was announced
a few days ago. One of the questions asks if having the ability to create
foreign keys to other databases would be useful. What you can do is to
duplicate the table in the local database and add triggers to the primary
copy (or use ER if you are licensed for it) to keep this duplicate copy
up-to-date. Then you can put the constraint on the local copy.
